Welcome to Mines Road Books. We offer unique books and information on California local history and genealogy.

Mines Road Books, based in Fremont, California, has been publishing books on local history since 1978. We are an independent, small-press, and self-publishing firm. Our books are sold mainly through mail orders, local museums, and specialty bookstores in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are planning to release digital versions of some of our out-of-print books to make them available again. Our name comes from the road that winds through the scenic mountains in southeastern Alameda County, California, which is full of interesting mining history.
