Mines Road Books, based in Fremont, California, has been publishing books on local history since 1978. We are an independent, small-press, and self-publishing firm. Our books are sold mainly through mail orders, local museums, and specialty bookstores in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our name comes from the road that winds through the scenic mountains in southeastern Alameda County, California, which is full of interesting mining history.
